Rocked The Tonight Show With Jay Leno!!!

Well, what a ride it's been for the past month!!! It started with a new job at Subway to help save money for my hospital tour, then within a week I set a new world record with 112 palm-flips in 30 seconds, then to put the icing on the cake...The Tonight Show With Jay Leno called to ask if I would play on the show June 15th. "Uh, yeah I can if y'all are paying the airline fare and putting me up in the hotel." It turns out that's exactly what they had in mind, and the Sheraton Universal Hotel was very nice, and the service there was outstanding. Limos and Escalades drove me everywhere I needed to go, from the airport, to the hotel, to NBC studios, and back to the hotel and airport. I stayed two nights and felt like I was walking in a dream. And when I played, "the audience went wild!" Just as I'd always imagined! Anyway, now I'm back in Rabun County and my first performance since Leno will be at the Subway restaurant in the Walmart building on Friday June 29th from 2 to 3p.m. I'll be working exclusively at that location from now on, so anytime you're in the area please stop by and say hello, and if I'm not busy creating a sandwich for a customer, I'll be happy to show you how I play spoons. ;o) Here is the link to see The Tonight Show segment I was on. What a blast it was! Please come meet me at Subway, enjoy a great lunch, or take home subs for dinner--you're family will thank you for it. Blessings and peace!

Entertainment for Nursing Homes & Children's Hospitals

Since starting my entertainment career as Wayne "Rhythm Chef" Jones, I've played many free events, and most of those have been for residents in nursing homes. It's easy to make friends with people who are so very appreciative, as they have been, and I've grown to love them and hope to visit and entertain them more often. Besides enjoying my spoons playing, they've had a blast singing when I take my karaoke shows to their locations, and I've even taught them American Sign Language Finger-spelling so they can learn to communicate with other residents who are learning to cope with hearing loss. I wish I could continue visiting them, and broaden my rounds to include other nursing homes more distant from my home, but the expense has slowed the progress of that dream. Many of you also know that I've dreamed about taking my show on a tour of children's hospitals across North America, all 170 of them. Since the only thing holding me back is funding, I've decided to open an opportunity for the readers of my blog to help at any level they feel inspired to contribute. So I'm attaching buttons that will allow donations for each cause. Please consider the good that could be done by your support. Thank you for your kind consideration! For Nursing Home Resident Entertainment Donations, please make the selection here...
For Children's Hospital Patient's Entertainment Donations, please make the selection here...
I'll be posting the happy faces of my nursing home and hospital friends along the way, so you'll see for yourself the good you have helped bring to them all! And thank you again.

It's Official...New World Record Awarded!!!

I am happy to announce that the judging staff at RecordSetters.com has not only approved my world record attempt, but all judges gave it their highest rating! I especially want to thank Randy Perkins for his tireless help and advice in the videography. I couldn't have done it without his assistance. The video I submitted for the world record award is in my video bar at the top right of my blog page. Enjoy, and please leave a comment.

"Read All About It!"...Foxfire Magazine Interview Published! Woo-hoo!!!

I'm so excited because today I received notice that Foxfire Magazine has published an interview-article about my musical adventures as The Rhythm Chef, in their fall/winter 2011 issue (it's late from the printer but will be out soon.) I hope you'll get a copy and write to me with your feedback. Now, I suppose I should keep the moniker Rhythm Chef, since the article will serve to support my career and marketing endeavors. On to the world record and the children's hospital tour--where I'll be able to spread some smiles and do some good! Thanks for caring.

Setting a World Record... but Where?

I have a plan to set a world record for the benefit of children's hospitals. And I'm seeking an interesting entertainment venue to hold the record-setting event. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I've written to the Children's Miracle Network for advice and input, as well, and am awaiting their response, so I'll keep you all posted!
